75th Anniversary of the Harley-Davidson Panhead
This year, 2023, is the 75th Anniversary of the Harley-Davidson Panhead. Production of the Panhead ran from 1948 through to 1965. The Panhead was so nicknamed because the rocker covers resembled cooking pans.
AutoPlus Autoexperts is proud to be one of the sponsors of the Panhead 75 Years Australian Anniversary, and our own John and Rob were excited to be part of this memorable event and ride with their very own beloved Panheads. It was a fabulous opportunity to see dozens of these timeless classic bikes gathered together and hit the road with old and new friends.
To celebrate this landmark for the iconic Panhead, a group of enthusiastic Panhead owners joined together for a weekend event in November. Panheads across all years and incarnations, including original paint classics, latest restorations, early choppers and bobbers joined the meet up and ride.
The event focused around the Gundagai NSW area with an initial meet up and dinner on the Friday night in town. The real fun kicked off on Saturday with the ride - starting at the 'Dog on the Tuckerbox', to Woodstock (near Cowra NSW) for lunch, then an alternative route back to Gundagai. An Awards Dinner was held on Saturday night at Gundagai. The approximately 400km round trip was a wonderful ride despite less than perfect weather.
